The McCauley Orchard & Gardens
Tucked into the heart of the city, McCauley Orchard & Gardens is a multi-acre green space with more than 100 edible trees and shrubs, native pollinator plantings, 21 community garden beds, and a growing network of dedicated volunteers.
Since taking on stewardship of the site in 2023, Sustainable Food Edmonton has been revitalizing the orchard into a vibrant gathering place, where neighbours grow food side by side and everyone is welcome

Whether you're an experienced gardener or completely new to growing food, everyone is welcome.

We meet rain or shine. For the safety of staff and volunteers, drop-ins may be cancelled during severe weather, including:
Thunderstorms or lightning
Heat of 34°C or higher (including Humidex)
Sustained winds or gusts above 45 km/h
Air Quality Health Index (AQHI) of 7 or higher
Please wear comfortable clothing, bring a water bottle, and wear closed-toe shoes. We encourage everyone to take breaks and garden at their own pace.
Monthly Workshops & Guest Speakers
On the last Wednesday of every month, we host a workshop, demonstration, or guest speaker session.

Join Our Community Garden
Plots are available, and we’re welcoming new gardeners! No experience is needed. We provide all the tools and seeds you’ll need for a successful season, though you’re welcome to bring your own.
Tending a plot takes about 2 to 3 hours a week for planting, watering, weeding, and harvesting. We ask that gardeners be able to commit to that time.
Please note: Priority is given to residents of the McCauley neighbourhood.

Throughout the season, Sustainable Food Edmonton partners with the McCauley Community League and other organizations to host workshops, educational programs, and community gatherings.

Yes, washrooms are available during program hours.

The orchard and garden pathways are mostly wood-chip surfaces. These uneven paths may be difficult to navigate with wheelchairs, walkers, or other mobility aids.

Produce grown in the community garden plots belongs to the gardeners who tend them. Visitors are welcome to enjoy the space but are asked not to harvest from the garden beds.
