Greetings from our new Community Garden Facilitator!

My name is Junetta Jamerson and I'm thrilled to be the new Community Garden Facilitator. Carla left some big shoes to fill, and with time I hope to build the same great relationships with Edmonton's food growing community.

I have years of community engagement experience and join SFE after 2 years as part of the amazing team over at the Rural Physician Action Plan (RPAP). While I sincerely miss my former co-workers and the communities across Central Alberta I worked closely with, my passion for all things green has found a new home!

I am also a certified Organic Master Gardener and bring a broad skill base in horticulture to my new role. I do everything from growing vegetables to designing ornamental containers. Every season I experiment with a growing technique or variety that's new to me. On deck for 2017 are purple carrots, a few new vertical plots and multi-coloured cauliflower varieties.

If you're looking to start a community garden, renovate or repair your existing one or try a small-scale garden pilot project, there are grants available in 2017. Applications will be available on our website at the end of this month. I look forward to your applications!

Please don't hesitate to email me at cgfacilitator@sustainablefoodedmonton.org. I'm here to answer any questions to help your community get growing as well.
